The last few days have been incredibly difficult for me as I was really stupid with managing my commitments through the weekend. It's not the first time I've done this - people ask me for things and it's hard for me to think 2-3 weeks in advance and say 'oh yeah, I can't do that'. Well... actually just 2-3 days in advance is probably just as hard for me. I can't remember everything that's going to happen - or that did happen the previous day. My short term memory is very short (ask Eko!). So anyways, I had a major project due on Tuesday (which I hadn't started as there was a major deadline at work). So I'm basically in cram mode, with the extra promises I made over the weekend. However, I did get to listen to this song over the weekend, and it just reminded me of one thing. Protostar.
If you've never played this video game you won't know what I'm talking about for the next paragraph - so feel free to move past it. This was the 'futuristic' music that was played in 1990s music for different video games. One of them being Protostar. I used to listen to the Protostar soundtrack all day - it was simple, and yet so emotional. It had that futuristic space feel about it that was just so exciting. I would have to say that this song is of much higher quality than the Protostar soundtrack - as it's more refined.
As mentioned - yes he over uses some samples, but to be quite frank - it's pretty well done.
Now as for fist of the north star - I would have to ay that this anime is just no good. I've seen good anime, I've seen incredible anime, and I've seen bad anime (for all time periods). Now the reason I like fist of the north star - is that it's very funny. I don't think it was intentional - but the animation is so bad, the acting is just so serious, and the plotline is so fickle that - well ... it's just hilarious.
Anyways - download this mix, I've enjoyed it and it'll be on my playlist for some time.
Also - kudos to DistanJ for mixing out of his regular genre. He did it quite well (and still kept that trance feel).
Oh and for the record - it's Chillout, not Ambience as properly corrected by SoC.
