I'm not exactly the best judge when it comes to chiptunes.  I've listened to quite a bit, and I know what I like and don't like.  I'd have to say that I used to listen to chiptunes and midis on long car rides just because I found them relaxing and nostalgic.  This song definately is quite catchy and reminds me of some of the crazy things that happened in FLCL.  The anime is only a few episodes long, a pretty easy watch, and is considered a classic by many otaku.  When I don't have practice at composing particular genres, I like to look at those in our judging staff that have, and take that into great consideration.  Overcoat has written many chiptunes.  In his judg review he said:

Navid beat me on the anime chips front. [...] This kind of song is outside the realm of NES limitations, but I think it's close enough that casual chip fans won't notice. The actual mixing was good though, and we definitely need more chips. Always gotta have more chips... @_@


This kind of song may be out of the NES limitations, but it's still a solid remix as suggested by soc and some of our other judges.  Thanks Navid for the chiptune^^.

  •     Naota is a normal Japanese 6th grade boy (although a little cynical), but when his older brother leaves for America to play baseball, his brother leaves his homeless 17 year old girlfriend Mamimi behind. Mamimi is sending mixed signals and advances to Naota, and he doesn't know what to do about her. But to make matters worse, Naota's world is totally turned upside down when he is run over by a woman on a Vespa. During their first encounter, she hits him over the head with her guitar, which then causes a horn to grow out of his forehead. She calls herself "Haruko" and her presence changes Naota's life to even further insanity.
