I thought this song was particularly well done, the way that Esh uses the different glitch/fsu effects sounds a lot like the way that Infected Mushroom does their work. It's another Death Note song, it's short, and it's very enjoyable. Today is the day that my baby girl is going to be born ^^ a great day to release a song.

This song caught my ear immediately when I was watching the show, and I thought about remixing it for a long time but couldn't think of a way to make it work, since it was a waltz, and those are really hard to remix. But in the end I figured it out, and I think it turned out pretty cool. :) The style is inspired by an amazing electronic guy called darkhalo ( http://www.signalburst.org/josh/ ). Specifically his song Alloy was an incredible influence on this, so check his stuff out if you like it--his is way better.

If you remember the first song I submitted to ocremix was industrial, several of my bands in highschool were either industrial or industrial rock.  I listened to so much of this stuff that even now I find it easy to just pick up some songs and remix industrial.  With that said, Misa No Uta (blackaurora mix) is a song I can definitely appreciate - it's very creative, deep and dark.  I'm really excited to have another industrial song on the site, and Surasshu did an excellent mix of Misa No Uta.  Poor Misa ><.

The drums are pretty crisp and if you listen to some of the effects Surasshu throws in near the end, he uses a nice glitch/granular effects.  I hope to hear more from Surasshu in the future.

Every time I listen to a finished song from Avaris, I'm always thinking that this guy is incredibly mellow.  This song takes my crazy stressed out life and turns it into 4 minutes of pure bliss.  This is his first submission using Reason 4.0 - the quality is amazing, and it sounds that his sound engineering skills have become better as well resulting in a phenomenal piece.  For those that haven't seen Madlax, I would recommend you see at least one episode from Madlax or Noir (or at least listen to the soundtracks if you're into ear candy like myself).

This was 4th place in the annual Halloween competition (2007).

Cell was created by Dr. Gero as the perfect warrior based off of samples of the 5 strongest warriors on earth (at that time).  Cell has only one unique ability, and that is to inherit abilities of those he consumes.  Dr. Gero had anticipated that Android 17 and 18 would have either become or lured out additional powerful warriors for Cell to consume - and released Cell after both Androids caused havoc on the earth.  Cell then would then consume 17 and 18 to become the perfect cell as well as any additional warriors.  Once he is perfect he can spawn smaller versions of himself via a form of cellular mitosis. Eventually he's able to reach what is equivalent to Super Saiyan 2 and is ridiculously powerful.  It's a fun series to watch and I recommend watching it after you have all the episodes (dragon ball series tend to be very long and have slow plot progression).

Aktulua (Steven Poissant) - Steve Poissant generally has been writing music for some time now.  He graduated with a degree in Music Theory in 2005, joined a group called PreKnown which creates Half Life 2 Dragon Ball Z mods as one of their core musicians, and had at least one wip up on vgmix that I heard a while back.  He's been in nearly every anime remix competition we've had, his first submission in 2004 was (Princess Mononoke) Pain of a Demon, second was Dyed in Darkness (Naruto), third was (Akira) Death of our Own, and this new song is absolutely phenomenal.  You can tell by listening to the previous entries that his skill and sound engineering has come a long way.

'He is Complete, He is Perfect' - This song really takes the original piece to the next level.  Not only is this a ridiculously spooky piece, but it is bursting with energy and great guitar work.  This song is certainly full of tricks and is a wonderful treat.

Personally - this will be a song I'll listen to for a long time.

This was the song that came in third place in our annual Halloween competition.  Having only researched the Anime, I can tell you that this is an Anime about like mushroom people.  Without making too much of a fool out of myself, I figured I'd just look up wikipedia on what they had to say about this anime:

I really found an appreciation to this song after listening to it a few times.  The textures in the synths and the fullness of the pads he uses certainly does give that creepy aura to it (for Halloween) and the song is pretty well put together.  Listening to the original piece, I can see why he took the approach that he did in terms of genre, and I think he did a very good job producing it.

OverCoat has been really a strong part of Anime Remix for a long time now, and his musical and administrative truly deserves much Kudos ^_^'  Arigato Gozaimasu!

So if you ever wanted a sample of what my old music sounded like, this is it.  It's a little softer than what I used to do, but basically it had:

A) Organs
B) Choirs
C) Distorted Drums
D) Industrial Synths

I figured I'd reach back to the past and pull a style that I haven't in a long long time.  This is probably the genre that I'm the most comfortable with, but if I write a ton of songs like this they'll eventually sound identical.  Anyways, I was surprised that I won the competition as I felt mine was dwarfed in comparison to someone else's piece.  With that said, I'm honored to be first place this year for the Halloween Competition.  I initially was going to use my song from the Grave of the Fireflies Supermix - but hearing Aktulua's and Avaris' submission made me realize the effort these guys were putting into it.  So I decided to go full out and really do my best on this song.  But yeah, had a ton of fun on this one and I hope you feel the same energy that I felt while writing this piece.

Definite kudos to everyone who participated in this either voting, making images, remixing, and listening <3.

"A-KIRA" is avaris' submission for ARHRC2K7, and he managed to get 2nd place, beating Aktulua and me with some awesome cyberchillout. "Floating Museum" is the original track, and for those that haven't seen Ghost in the Shell for a while [understandable], it's from near the end of the movie, Kusanagi vs. a tank [if I'm even remembering right. It's been a while for me too]. avaris' remix of the tune is much more electronic, featuring light tribal/glitchy percussion and biting cold digital synths. Chances are if you like Kenji Kawai's Ghost in the Shell soundtrack, you'll like this too.

This song was submitted 3 times, and Zoned really had a great attitude about revamping the song and resubmitting it.  I really encourage all those who had their songs rejected to resubmit.  There are a lot of great resources in our community and wonderful resources on various other sites that can help improve your mix to meet our standards.  I hope to hear more from Zoned in the future.

I admire Zoned's determination and you can tell a big difference in quality from the first submission to this song.  I'm happy to have put this on the site and I hope you enjoy this piece as much as I did when I first listened to it.  Very relaxing, and very inspiring to re-watch Naruto once again.

This will be DistantJ's 6th remix to the site and what a smashing one at that! His musical writing skills only get better with each song.

Percussion: The drumline changes frequently giving it a sense of depth. Each sample provides amazing clarity. The filters, reverb, and compression really add to the kick and punch that gives this song energy. It's obvious to me that he spent a great deal of time learning these techniques and implemented them appropriately.

Synth/Pads: You can always tell when some new guy comes in and uses really generic sounding synths. Usually they're unchanging in the duration of the note as well as the duration of the song. It will leave the person hoping for more. These pads and synths are amazing in terms of changing attributes in terms of note duration and they are manipulated throughout the song. They sound like living and breathing animals. In my best analogy to good synths - you want to make them like a woman. Beautiful, and elegant, yet harsh and unpredictable - but yet so full of emotion <3

Overall Composition: This song sound professionally mixed, the main thing that irks me is that I wanted to hear more of the song. Although I don't think I'll hear Eko singing to this one like she did with the Raccoon's song, you can expect this to be on my mp3 player for a long time as part of my constantly listened to trance playlist.

- Definitely worth your time to listen and download.

This is probably one of the most amazing songs we've had submitted this year.  Electric Concerto has given us a wonderful trance mix of one of the most popular Anime tunes "Sadness and Sorrow" from Naruto.  Yes, this is filled with as much emotion as the original tune and really gives a great sense of how I felt when I watched Naruto.  I'm not sure how much I like how popular Naruto has become, however I'm still a fan of the show.  Anyways, you'll absolutely love what Electric Concerto has done with this piece.  This is a unanimous YES from the judges!
